Isn’t It hard to imagine Indian sweets without sugar but this sheera shows you that the possibility is real! This yummy Jowar Apple Sheera has an amazingly satiating taste, with the natural sweetness of apple, honey and raisins. Although it might not be as sweet as the normal sheeras, but its pleasant taste works out well for health watchers and people with sweet tooth. Cow’s milk adds to the health quotient of this sweet, while also giving it a rich taste, which is accentuated by a dash of cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup jowar (white millet) flour
  • 3/4 cup grated apple (unpeeled)
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1 cup cow’s milk
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped raisins (kismis)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder

To Garnish With

1 tbsp almond (badam) slivers

Procedure

1. Heat the ghee in a broad non-stick pan, add the jowar flour and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes. 2. Add the milk, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 30 seconds, while stirring continuously using a whisk. 3. Add 1 cup of water and raisins, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring continuously using a whisk and trying to break the lumps. 4. Add the apple, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously. 5. Switch off the flame, add the honey and cardamom powder and mix well. 6. ADD almond slivers. 7. SERVE WARM
